Redbull Soulwave 2012
Last weekend the RedbulL Soulwave event took place in Klitmøller. The event had been gone for a few years, but came back stronger than ever this year. The event had both windsurfing and SUP'ing in the contest and in the end there would be an overall winner of both disciplines. I only did the windsurfing part, as I haven't spend that much time on a SUP. The first day of the contest didn't provide any wind or waves, so everyone was just chilling at the event side. The second day was a different story. In the morning the SUP contest started in Klitmøller bay, and the conditions was looking quite good. Around 12 o'clock the wind was getting to strong, and the SUP was put on a hold, and the windsurf contest got started.
The conditions was just improving through out the day, and in the final the conditions was at it's best for wave riding. I managed to get all the way to the final, along with Klaas Voget, Leon Jamaer and Mads Bjørnå. All three of them was sailing really well, and I knew I couldn't afford to make any mistakes, if I wanted to win. Luckily I had my best heat of the day in the final, and when they announced me as the winner I was super stoked. The last day of the event they finished the SUP contest, and wining that was my PLASMA team mate Casper Steinfath.
Leon Jamaer took the overall title of the contest. Big congrats to him and well done. Two days after the event we had a really windy session at Hanstholm. I was stacked on my 3.7 and just struggling to sail straight. After the session I went home and packed all my stuff, then slept 2 hours, got up and drove to the airport in Hamburg, and caught a plane to Gran Canary. It's super windy here and the first day on the water I was once again stacked on my 3.7. The PWA world cup is starting on Monday, and all the World cup sailers are starting to arrive.
All the best,
